Challenges / Opportunities

MFI was asked by Thunderbird School for Global Management to develop and facilitate a two-day leadership skills development program for one of its clients, FEMSA, a Mexican bottling and convenience store conglomerate.

The program needed to support leadership competencies, delivered to 150 leaders — 50% of which did not speak or read English. Leaders within the company were struggling with coordinating their communication, aligning goals and process, and developing a culture attractive to prospective employees, across several sites throughout Mexico and Asia.

Recommendations & Implementations

The program was centered in leadership, coaching and communication theories and models and was delivered through experiential learning and created 100% engagement.

  • Designed a two day leadership development program,
  • Developed materials and PowerPoint presentations in English and Spanish,
  • Facilitated a two day program in Monterrey Mexico for 150 leaders,
  • Worked with translators over headsets for Spanish-only speaking leaders,
  • Debriefed results with senior leaders within the company.

Post event survey results gave the content and facilitation a 98% favorable rating, and facilitator Dean Newlund was given a standing ovation upon completion of the program.
